Wedding card

Another little tip for using the Tonic Studios  Daisy Simplicity Geared Punch is to create a doily shape with it. This can then be used on its own or to complement the border pattern as in the wedding card above.

1. Cut a circle 11cm in diameter.

2. Place circle into punch as shown above.

3.Turn punch over so that you can see it form underneath. Start your next punch exactly on top of the last hole on the left of the previous punch. This is a lot easier than it sounds -you can see the hole clearly marked by the arrow.

4. Continue right round in this way until the last pattern. This time you just have to line up both sides as shown above. It fits exactly and you can even "feel" the punch resting in the correct place.

  20. Hi Ruth,

Was this made with the daisy border punch or the daisy strip punch? I've just ordered the daisy border punch but am now worried that I may have ordered the wrong one :(

On the Tonic Studio site, under the item Simplicity Pattern Punch – Daisy Border Item 941e - there are two photos - photo one on the lefty shows how I want the punch to work but photo two shows a different way -

I hope the punch I've ordered doesn't do that - or will it work both ways? I'm a bit confused lol.

    1. Hi, this was made with the Daisy Border punch
      https://www.tonic-studios.co.uk/?post_type=products&p=7
It is the one you want! I've just looked and you're right - the two cards in that pic show two different punches used - the one on the left is the Border punch and the one on the right uses the Strip punch. Enjoy!

  21. Thanks! I have my punch and have tried to do this but it doesn't work. I am making 11cm circles, and lining the last hole at the top on the left up, but after about 3 punches, the holes then don't line up and go off onto the edge of the card. It's really hard to keep it going around in a circle :(

    1. Hi, I think you must be going in a line instead of following the circle if you are going off the edge.If you have a diecutting machine, why not try the new die? https://www.tonic-studios.co.uk/?post_type=products&p=1658

  22. I came up on this while searching how to punch a circle using the Tonic Border punches. Great tutorial! How do you know which size circle to start with so you come up even with the punches?

    1. To be honest, it was trial and error. Now I've worked out that bit the hard way - you won't have to :)
