Dovecraft Christmas Basics from Trimcraft - How to decorate a wooden shelf frame

The Scandinavian style of the Trimcraft Christmas Basics papers and embellishments are ideal for decorating wooden frames. I've shown how to create a "house" type frame with many of the elements from the collection.

Dovecraft 3D foam squares

1. Paint the roof, shelves and edges (including the outside edges) with white chalk paint.

2. Cut pieces of patterned paper to fit inside each compartment and glue in place with tacky glue - NB - I added a little water to the tacky glue before brushing it onto the back of the compartments as well as a generous amount onto the back of the paper.

3. Die cut the right angle snowflake from the Snowflakes die set in white card and glue into the top of the frame.

4. Die cut two baubles from the Baubles die set - one white and one patterned. Cut out the insert die pattern on the white card and glue on top of the patterned bauble. Add a twine bow and glue to the peak of the roof.
Die cut two holly leaves from the green patterned paper and crease down the centre. Glue to the top of the frame adding 3 red Adhesive Pearls.

 4. Wrap green twine around a wooden Christmas tree, adding spots of glue to hold it firmly in place,Glue this to the left of the top left shelf. Die cut 2 snowflakes, layer one on top of the other, glue on top of another wooden Christmas tree and add a red gemstone. Add this beside the other tree with 3D foam squares.

5. Die cut all the Poinsettia flowers from the set, add a little dimension by lightly embossing from behind, layer the petals and add a red Adhesive Pearl in the centre. Glue to the centre of the centre left shelf.

6. Cover a wooden frame with Dovecraft Glitter Glue (Crystal) and add plastic buttons to two opposite corners. Glue this to the centre of the largest shelf and add a Sentiment Topper in the centre.

7. Glue a wooden snowflake to the centre of the bottom left shelf and add a gemstone in the centre.

8. Cover a wooden Christmas tree with Dovecraft Glitter Glue (Crystal) and add red and green gemstones. Attach to the bottom centre shelf with 2 layers of 3D foam squares.

9.  Die cut two baubles from the Baubles die set - one white and one patterned. Cut out the insert die pattern on the white card and glue on top of the patterned bauble. Add a twine bow and attach to the centre of the bottom right shelf.

10. Attach the Happy Christmas Sentiment Topper across the centre of the top shelf.

11. Die cut several more white snowflakes and glue to the outside of the frame with gems and pearls in the centres.
