Quick corner bookmark

I've made quite a few of these little bookmarks lately as they are so quick and easy. This one uses the beautiful Tonic Studios Butterfly border punch and my Honeysuckle digi image from A Passion for Stamps.

1. Cut a square with sides measuring 8.5cm , marking the centre of 3 sides.  Fold  the top corners into the centre .
Punch the bottom with the border punch.

2. Cut a triangle to fit the back of the bookmark .

3. Attach to cover the join.

4. Draw around the front part of the bookmark and cut out a piece of card to cover . Emboss this and attach to the front.

5. Print and colour digi image, cut out and attach to the embossing.

It's been pouring here for days now and the garden is soaking but here are a few photos I took  in a dry  spell on  Monday. I just love the texture on all the different leaves..

Trying again..

Well, every time I looked at the photo in the last post it got darker, so I thought I'd make a similar card in brighter colours in the hope that it would make a better pic. Not an easy task, might I add, when I was shunted from pillar to post by a plumber, sons wanting food and husband wanting opinions.

Anyhow, here it is. I've used the same method of punching for the circle border..

The strip was made in the same way as THIS one.

Ok, I'm off to clean the grout dust off the bathroom tiles, polish the taps and admire..

Rhododendrons

The sky seems to be falling on us here in Northern Ireland at the moment - it hasn't stopped raining for days.

That's my excuse for the photo! The card is actually a beautiful shade of lilac.

Add to that the fact that our house is upside down while a new bathroom is being fitted and you'll get the picture....

Some of you will know that I have worked for several years in interior design and property renovation, and over the years I've been working on countless bathroom refurbs. I love choosing, planning and working on it all. Well, I don't like it happening in MY house!! I've put it off till it couldn't wait any longer.

The card - I've used my drawing of a Rhododendron (available HERE) and mounted it on a circle cut with Tonic Studios Circle Shape Mate and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Then I added a little trim around the circle using my Victorian border punch like so...

The ribbon is threaded through the Tonic Studios riblet punch and the Butterfly came from the Tonic Studios Multi Detail Butterfly punch.

Tonic Studios are updating their website at the moment so I'll add the links next week.

Another wedding card

It was really difficult to get a decent photo of this card without my own reflection on it, but I think this at least shows the general idea. I used the Tonic Studios Border System and the same edger punch on both silver and white card, before punching hearts out of the white strip to let the silver show through.The hearts on the ribbon have a little gem in the centre. Simples really!
Unfortunately, there is a problem with the Tonic Studios website at the moment and I can't add the links to the products, but I'll do it when the problem is sorted at the beginning of the week.

The weather has been so awful here, too that taking photos of the card was almost out of the question so I hope it improves soon or it will feel like a looong winter..

Male 60th Birthday

Good morning - at least I hope it is where you are. I can hardly see the garden gate from the living room window this morning because of the fog.

Some of you will recognise the digi image on this card. It's my drawing of my own Makita drill (I've just changed the colour). I keep a close eye on it when I'm working as I'd be lost without it!!

I've coloured it with Promarkers and a silver gel pen on the drill bit.

What I really love about this one is the Tonic Studios  Scalloped Arc Border punch   and how it goes so well with the Craft Creations  Silver Cogs and Gears paper. Some of you may remember how happy I was to match the two up at the beginning of April at the King's Hall in Belfast  :)

I've used a hole punch to add a little more detail to the border as well, and embossed some more silver Mirror card with my Cuttlebug  Diamond Plate embossing folder.

Diamond Jubilee Beacon in Belfast

  Just thought I'd let you see the beacon which was lit in Belfast last night to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It was on the Lagan Weir just beside the Queen's Bridge. You can just see the huge crane of  the Belfast Shipyard to the right of the photo.

It was such a beautiful evening I took another photo of the Lagan Weir showing the reflections on the lovely calm water. Belfast looked wonderful last night !

Sir Stampalot DT card

Well. it's time for another challenge at Sir Stampalot and this time you have a bingo grid to choose from to enter. Here's the super prize..

I've chosen Lilac/purple; ribbon; pink. The flower is the Cosmos digi image from A Passion for Stamps and is coloured with Promarkers.

I know, I know....it 's beginning to look like I only have one border punch!! I just love this Victorian Border from Tonic Studios! I think I'm going to have to put it in a drawer and use some of the other gorgeous punches for a while.

The little flowers were made using 2 of the Petal Pairs punches and the leaves were cut from the Flora and Fauna Birdy punch.

Victorian Border frame

So many punches, so little time!! I love trying to use these punches in different ways and on this card I've used the Tonic Studios Victorian border punch again (you can tell this is a favourite..). This time I've made a little frame with it. It's really easy to make and only takes minutes. I've shown below how I did it but it's a lot easier than it looks.

The "flower" in the centre was made with the Tonic Studios Multi Detail Heart punch, Simplicity Geared Daisy punch and the mini Daisy punch.

Enjoy.

1. Measure depth of punch-15mm

2. Draw a line 15mm in from 2 sides of  card.

3. With the back of the punch facing upwards, start punching right at the edge of the upright line.

4. Turn it over and carry on punching as normal

5. Punch 4 times and turn over, then start in the same way at the other corner.

6. Carry on punching as normal.

7. When you have punched 4 times, draw a line from corner to corner of the punched section.

8. Now draw a line 15mm outside each of these lines.

9.Cut the paper off along the outside lines.

10. Punch along the other 2 sides in the same way to create the frame.
