Demo day

Good morning! Just a little "heads up" for any Northern Ireland crafters who might be in the Dungannon area on Saturday (3rd Nov). I'll be demoing in the Paperworks shop in the Linen Green, Dungannon and would love to see some friends! The shop is well worth a visit and I hope you will like the cards, little bags etc I'll be making throughout the day. I will,of course, be demoing some Tonic Studios dies, punches and stamps along with some other gorgeous goodies from the shop.

Pink Rose

Good morning. Today's card is just a simple bit of stamping and punching but I wanted to try this colour scheme for a little change. It was Lynne's birthday card and now that her birthday is over, it's ok to share!

The big rose in the centre is one of the Rose stamps from the Tonic Studios Pick of the Bunch collection and I've coloured it with Promarkers and cut it out before mounting it on a Butterfly Circle die. The lovely punch down the sides of the pink paper was made with the Vine border punch and the little ivy sprigs are part of a die set........wait a minute - I can't say any more about that one yet!!

Be back soon with more, Ruth :)

Doily Bags

I spent a while getting some doily shapes cut out for use when I "got around to it" and had a look to see what new things I could make with them. I realised they were just the ideal size to make cute little bags - even better when you can use the matching doily shape and strip punch for a handle :)

I've threaded some fine gold ribbon through the doily strip on the handle this time

For the little bags in this post I've used the Tonic Studios Butterfly Square Die with the Butterfly Strip punch and the Doily Circle die with the matching Doily Strip punch
The stamps are Peony, Fuchsia and  Rose from the Pick of the Bunch set also by Tonic Studios
All adhesives used in the project are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Here's how I made the bag but you could use any combination of these doily dies and punches with any stamp for decoration...have a go!

1. Die cut 2 Doily shapes

2. Cut a strip of card 15cm x 6cm and score at 1.5cm and 4.5cm (lengthwise)
Snip the card into the centre at 5cm and 10cm

3. Score across the middle at 5cm and 10cm

4a...Use the small Dodz to stick the little box corners together.

4b. Close up

5. Use the Crafty Power Tape around the sides of the "box"

6. Fix one side of the box to the doily die

7. Then attach the other.

8. Punch a handle using the Butterfly strip punch.

9. Use E-Z Dots (Mini Perrnanent) to attach the handle to the bag.

10. Ready to decorate

Row of Rudbeckias

I wasn't able to make cards for my blog for a wee while as I was busy working on other things but I have a couple ready now to share over the next few days. My mother had a big (!) birthday so we had a lovely family get-together last weekend and it was great to see the "Cambridge contingent" over for a few days.

This card is a little different from my usual style because I usually don't like such a bold colour contrast but I wanted a bright card for someone who is recovering from surgery. I stamped and masked the Rudbeckia images from Tonic Studios'Pick of the Bunch collection to create a row before adding them to embossed card and ribbon with 3D foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L .

I created the beautiful scalloped border with the Border System and Edger 3 in teal for the top and also on the actual card base. On the card base I used the Butterflies Accent punch and backed it with matching teal cardstock.

I know it's a bit early but just thought I should mention - I'm going to be doing a demo of  Tonic punches and some other things in the Paperworks shop at the Linen Green at Dungannon on Saturday 3rd November so if anyone from NI is in the area feel free to call in and introduce yourself  - I'd love to see you.

Punch away..

Good morning. Another month has flown by and I can't belive it's now October....we didn't even have a Summer and Autumn has sneaked up on us! Well, I'm not ready yet to give in to Autumn colours and have coloured my Peony stamp in Carmine and Ruby Promarkers with a little glitter on the Gold in the centre. This is my DT card for the October challenge at Sir Stampalot and the theme is "Punch away"...so right up my street!
There is, as always a super prize so start punching and join in.

I used the Tonic Studios Border System with the Diamond Accent punch as seen in the photos to make the decorative panel which I threaded with ribbon...

I've discovered a brilliant product for sticking all my intricate punched details to the card...E-Z Dots Mini (Permanent) from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
First I punched a strip of card along both sides with the Tonic Studios Diamond Accent punch and threaded some fine ribbon down the centre.
If you look closely you'll see how I used the E-X Dots over punched areas and the adhesive is not visible on the right side. I also used it to attach the pink Daisy Border 2  punched card.

Then, to give a little dimension to the card, I attached the cut out Peony to the card using 3D foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
